Salut Buckie High School!

Firstly, je suis désolée for not writing recently but I have been busy getting used to and enjoying my nouvelle vie in France. I have been in France for presque deux mois now and am really enjoying it. Je travaille in two different ecoles, Collège Raucourt and Lycée de Bazeilles. The collége is for pupils aged 11 – 14 and the lycée is for pupils aged 14 – 20. The two schools are très différentes to each other and to schools en Ecosse.

In the collège, les élèves don’t wear a uniforme scolaire. They wear their own clothes all the time and I find it very different to schools in Scotland where most schools have a school uniform. They have different teachers for each subject (l'anglais, les mathématiques,le  français etc) just like high schools in Scotland except that collège is only for the first few years of high school in France.

The lycée where I work is different to most lycées in France. Il s’appelle a professional lycée and specialises in hospitality. Toutefois, it is still like a normal high school. It is unusual because les élèves here have to wear a uniform which is not très populaire in France. It is also un pensionnat so the pupils live at the school from lundi to vendredi and then return to their homes at the weekend and pendant les vacances.
