你好！I’m Jessica and currently in S6 studying Advanced Higher Maths, Spanish, Chinese (simplified) and Higher Economics and Philosophy. I like to be ambitious and challenge myself so I take multiple subjects. I speak English and Mandarin fluently and I’m learning other languages such as Spanish, Cantonese, Japanese, German and Korean. At university, I hope to study law and incorporate languages in some way. Perhaps law with Spanish or international business as studying languages would be very useful.
Where does your interest in languages come from?
My interest for languages roots from myself being bilingual ever since I could remember. Languages have always been a part of my life because I’d grown up speaking two languages. I’ve also always loved to travel as well so I knew learning new languages would unlock opportunities for me to study abroad, indulge in new cultures and meet new people. I want to share the joyful experience of approaching someone and surprising them by speaking their language to them.
What do you hope to gain from the internship?
From this internship, I want to grow my love for languages and also meet new people with the same interests as me. We’ll be put in an environment where we have to take responsibility to discuss concepts, assign tasks amongst ourselves and ultimately spread the usefulness of learning languages to our target audience. I’ll gain communication, teamwork and coordination skills alongside other members throughout this duration. It is a new experience that I’m keen on trying and ready to learn from!
