We are delighted to have seven S6 students from across Scotland taking part in SCILT’s 2025-26 Digital Internship programme. Their remit is to engage 15-18 years olds with language learning through social media.

This is the seventh time the internship programme has taken place, with previous cohorts having received training from the SCILT communications team, the Marketing team from the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Strathclyde, RadioLingua and from the Directorate for Culture and External Affairs and the International Communication team at the Scottish Government. Interns are supported by the SCILT communications team throughout their internship to collaborate to produce regular, engaging content.

Meet the 2025-26 interns!

Meet our team of interns joining us for the 2025-26 academic session. Find out more about them in their profiles below.

Our teams of digital interns have a great track record in producing original content aimed at promoting the benefits of language learning to their peers. Our 2023-24 cohort posted on Instagram @mindyourlanguage2324 and had a very successful @mindyourlanguage2324 TikTok account. Take a look at @zinguistics, the Instagram account of our 2022-23 digital interns and @zinguistics on TikTok. You can also visit @langwiches, our 2021-22 digital interns' Instagram and their @langwiches TikTok account. The Instagram account of the 2020-21 digital interns @langueyou is also still available to view. We first ran this project as a pilot in 2018-19. You can see the content these digital interns produced on the Speak Lingua Instagram page and Twitter profile.

Read the experiences of one of our 2023-24 interns, Anne:

"I was inspired by my French teacher to take up SCILT’s Digital Internship opportunity. SCILT offer this every year. I didn’t know exactly what I was getting into, but after completing the recruitment process, I was more than delighted to be chosen to be a 2023-24 intern!

"I remember being nervous for the first training day, I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, my nerves were quickly forgotten after meeting the other interns for the first time and making an immediate connection with each of them, especially during the lunch hour and our group-work tasks.  Our aim as Digital Interns is to promote language learning to 15-18 year olds on social media. As a team, we have chosen to use Instagram and TikTok to achieve this goal.

"We collaborate and communicate greatly as a team and have a variety of languages between us, and we each learn from one another through our unique and individual posts. Being an intern for SCILT has been an unforgettable experience so far, and I’m so excited to see where our journey as interns takes us."
