News Date: 17 March 2026
News Source: British Council

Bring languages to life in your classroom by hosting a Modern Language Assistant (MLA).

The Language Assistants programme is committed to inspiring pupils and teachers to achieve success in language learning. With their authentic language skills and cultural insights, an assistant can inspire Scottish pupils to build their confidence in speaking another language and support them to develop global citizenship. Hosting an assistant at your school can help to deliver the 1+2 approach to language learning, as well as contributing to the wider aims of the Curriculum for Excellence.
