Support for language teaching and learning from the cultural organisations and British Council

As the new school year begins, check out the resources and opportunities from the cultural organisations to help language teachers and their learners. Follow the relevant link for more information:

French (Institut français)

Primary French project – free teaching materials for all who teach French in KS2 across the UK.

Teacher training and resources – training opportunities for primary and secondary teachers plus a wide range of free educational resources for teachers and students of French.

TV5 Monde resources – free teaching materials and videos for all levels of French.

IFProfs – resources to help teachers save time preparing lessons and designed to offer learners rich and varied activities.

German (Goethe-Institut)

Kinotage – German Film Week takes place 30 September to 3 October 2026. Schools can secure a German Film Week kit including films, workshop ideas and posters.

Deutschstunde – free teaching materials for German lessons.

German Club – materials to support setting up a German club in school.

Wuschel immersive exhibition for primary schools – based on the popular language-learning book Wuschel auf der Erde illustrated by Axel Scheffler, available free as a mail order kit.

French/German/Spanish (Institut français, Goethe-Institut, Spanish Embassy, British Council)

Culture Days – resources accompanied by detailed teacher guides and further ideas and tips on creating a memorable, fun and creative language and culture celebration for the entire school community. Available for primary and secondary learners in French, German or Spanish.

Support for language teaching - range of opportunities to support teachers delivering French, German and Spanish along with additional materials to bring other world languages and cultures into the classroom.
