As the new school year gets underway, here are some British Council programmes and opportunities to support international learning and language education in schools across Scotland. Follow the appropriate link to find out more:

  • Erasmus+: An introduction for schools - this video recording offers an introduction to the Erasmus+ programme and how your school, your pupils and your staff can benefit. Erasmus+ offers life-changing international opportunities to study, train and collaborate in over 30 countries. Grant funding opens in November but you can find out more and prepare ahead by visiting the Erasmus+ website and signing up for the newsletter.
  • Reading for Pleasure: Connect with a School in Morocco - applications are now open for the British Council's Reading for Pleasure guided partnership programme. Secondary schools (S1-S3) can partner with a school in Morocco to share reading experiences, explore diverse literature and build an international connection. There will also be opportunities for shared language learning across English, French and Arabic. Apply by 30 September.
  • Learning Sectors - this international partnership programme from the British Council, supported by Formula 1, gives UK pupils aged 7-16 in state-funded schools the opportunity to work with a partner school in India or Spain on a shared STEM challenge. Whilst the project has no language-specific focus, the collaboration will build communication skills, confidence, curiosity and global awareness. Starting early October, find out more and apply now!
