Mother Tongue Other Tongue 2026-27 launched!

Our multilingual poetry competition, Mother Tongue Other Tongue (MTOT), is back for session 2026-27!
This year the competition remains focused on the written word. Whilst entries can be illustrated with pupils' hand-drawings and recordings can be submitted, there is no requirement to include these elements.
All pupils from P1 to S6 can take part, whether entering in a language spoken with families at home (Mother Tongue) or a language they are learning (Other Tongue).
Pupils can write about any subject but there will be a special prize category this year for entries on the theme of 'Peace'.
