Babble - Call for submissions

News Date: 1 October 2026
News Source: University of Edinburgh

Let your S6 learners become published authors!

Giving learners a real audience beyond the classroom is one of the strongest motivators for writing. With this in mind, Babble, the University of Edinburgh's student language magazine, is delighted to invite Scottish schools to submit collective essays written by S6 learners for publication in its annual supplement.

This is an opportunity for learners to see their work published, reach a wider audience, and celebrate their achievements as language learners.

This year's theme is Change and we welcome essays written in Chinese, Gaelic, German, French, Italian, or Spanish that explore this theme in any way.

Submission deadline: 28 February 2027.

Schools in Edinburgh currently benefit from support provided by university student mentors. Unfortunately, due to logistical constraints, we are unable to offer this mentoring scheme to schools outside the Edinburgh area.
