Alice joined the team in 2023 as a Projects and Events Coordinator, having amassed several years of personal and professional experience in language learning and teaching.

While studying for an MA Honors in French at the University of Edinburgh, she studied Spanish for a year and undertook a year abroad in Strasbourg, France working as an English Language Assistant in two high-schools. This cemented her love of working in language education and she subsequently undertook an internship with Scholastic’s Mary Glasgow Magazines, working on their English and Modern language learning magazines. After graduating in 2017, she worked as a bilingual Account Manager for an audio-visual translation company, before joining the British Council as an Assistant Consultant in the Language Assistants team. In this role she was responsible for the English Language Assistants programme in France, Canada, and Belgium, as well as Modern and Chinese Language Assistants in Scotland. She also had responsibilities for numerous language learning events and projects, as well as university outreach across Scotland.

She later moved to Berlin, Germany where for four years she worked as a Customer Service Consultant for the language learning app, Babbel, aiding customers with all issues and providing advice on language learning. After moving back to Scotland in 2022, she undertook a Masters at the University of Glasgow in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, with her dissertation exploring ESOL provision for Ukrainian refugees in Scotland.

Alice is currently learning BSL and likes to use her French and German skills when possible. She is greatly excited to join the team and provide support across a variety of language learning and teaching projects and events.
