Katie joined the Confucius Institute for Scotland’s Schools (CISS) in 2012. She manages the Professional Services team and has responsibility for the day-to-day operations of CISS. She leads on a number of projects and events, including the scholarship and pupil immersion visit to China.
Katie has been interested in Asian culture from a young age and was lucky enough to spend her gap year teaching English in China at the age of 18. She then went on to study French and International Relations at the University of St Andrews where her interest in Asia continued to grow and she opted to write her final dissertation on Chinese politics. During her time at university, she also had the opportunity to spend an extremely enjoyable year working as a Language Assistant in France.
Katie is a keen linguist. She is passionate about human rights and has been volunteering with asylum seekers and refugees in Glasgow for the last decade. She loves travelling and learning about other cultures and is always planning the next adventure.
