To mark the 100 year anniversary of the end of the First World War, the Goethe-Institut Glasgow and the Alliance Française Glasgow are planning a conference in collaboration with British partners, such as the Kelvingrove Museum Glasgow. The conference is focusing on the role of culture in peace education and reconciliation in post-conflict-situations.
Because culture is an expression of identity, it plays a key role in the peace-building process in post-conflict areas, as it promotes dialogue, recounts memories, and encourages mutual understanding. The conference will bring together experts from Germany, France and the United Kingdom and will be held alongside the "Brushes With War" exhibition at the Kelvingrove Museum.
Free film screenings of relevant German, French and British films will also be shown.
