Event Date: 28/11/2019 17.00 - 19.30

Sergio's life is mirrored in the house he built, a labyrinth of books, photos and memorabilia collected over his career as journalist, intellectual, storyteller and television pioneer. Surrounded by a beehive of female activity that provide for him, Sergio moves about the house he built accompanied by his daughter Caterina, his life unfolding in this perambulation, in the objects and 50,000+ books that the house contains. Following Sergio’s physical wanderings in the labyrinthine home and listening to his critical thinking, the film distance itself from a biography to turn into an intimate excavation of what is memory and a question about what we will leave behind.

SCILT, Scotland’s National Centre for Languages, and Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Strathclyde are delighted to present a screening of ‘The House He Built’ followed by a Q&A with director Caterina Borelli.

This free event is open to anyone to attend, but may be of particular interest to Senior Phase pupils and students of Italian. The film will be screened in Italian with English subtitles, and there will be the opportunity to ask questions to the director in Italian or English.

Places are limited, so don't miss out! Register by 5pm on 26 November, refreshments of drinks and nibbles will be provided.
