UNESCO World Teachers’ Day is held annually on 5 October to celebrate all teachers around the globe. Since 2016, British Council TeachingEnglish has run an online event on or around 5 October, providing professional development opportunities with a variety of engaging, practical and thought-provoking talks, workshops and panel discussions by teachers and teacher educators around the globe.

This year, our World Teachers’ Day Online Conference will be a truly global event, designed to reach every teacher in every part of the world. This event will take place on Saturday 1 October, starting in Vietnam at 03.00am UK time and ending in Mexico at 22.00pm UK time, offering 19 hours of online professional development.

As with previous years, British Council TeachingEnglish will be hosting a series of talks, workshops and panel discussions. This year our theme is ‘Teachers at the centre of a changing world'. Sign up and choose from more than 20 sessions to attend. Language teachers and learners will be particularly interested in the session 'ENACT your cultural activities on the web: learn language through culture'.
