We are delighted to announce the first event of 2024-25 for the TOIIS network! This will an engaging and informative online presentation by Francesca Perazio, Teaching Fellow in Italian at the University of Strathclyde, looking at the vast array of regional variations in the Italian language and how to navigate this in our teaching. We would love to see you there!

Description

Have you ever noticed that Italian has more than one word to say ‘watermelon’? Which one should you use when you speak and teach the language? In this presentation we will look at the linguistic phenomenon of ‘geosinonimi’ and reflect on how Italian can vary depending on where in Italy it is spoken.

The event takes place online on Microsoft Teams and is open to all teachers of Italian in Scotland.
