Event Date: 02/06/2014 - 06/06/2014

Bòrd na Gàidhlig is pleased to inform you a Gaelic Immersion Week for Teachers will be taking place at Sabhal Mòr Ostaig, Sleat, Isle of Skye, Monday 2nd to Friday 6th June 2014.

The aim of the week is to give teachers who have an interest in Gaelic Medium Education and already have some Gaelic further confidence in their Gaelic language skills.

The course will have a largely conversational basis, giving the teachers access to phrases that will be useful in a classroom setting. Grammar, writing and reading will also feature.  Information will also be provided about the next steps for those wishing to transfer to Gaelic-medium teaching.

Those who attend this week should have an intermediate level of Gaelic already (e.g. roughly equivalent to Higher Gaelic Learners, An Cùrsa Inntrigidh / and be able to hold a basic conversation in Gaelic) and are considering moving to GME in the future.

There are 10 places on the course, which is open to Nursery, Primary and Secondary teachers. All who attend, must have permission form their Head Teacher and Local Authority to attend.

Bòrd na Gàidhlig will cover course costs, travel and accommodation costs, however we are unable to provide supply costs.

A further 4 weeks will run in different locations throughout Scotland in the school-year 2014-2015 and dates will be released before the summer holidays.

To request an application form or should you require any further information, please e-mail teagasg@gaidhlig.org.uk  or phone 0141 341 1020.

Please feel free to circulate this information to anyone who would be interested in this opportunity.
