Teaching Chinese in Scotland: Pedagogy Meets the Language is a one day event for those involved in the teaching of Chinese. Taking place on Friday 12 June 2015 at 50 George Square, University of Edinburgh, this workshop is jointly organised by the Confucius Institute for Scotland (in the University of Edinburgh) and the Confucius Institute for Scottish Schools (in the University of Strathclyde).

There will be a number of parallel workshops running on the day. Topics include:

  • Teaching tones 
  • Teaching listening and speaking 
  • Teaching reading and writing 
  • Teaching Chinese grammar 
  • Resources for teaching 
  • Classroom management 
  • SQA assessments for Chinese 
  • 1+2 approach to language learning

The workshops will be run by experienced teachers and trainers from Chinese Studies, University of Edinburgh; Confucius Institute for Scottish Schools; School of Oriental and African Studies; Heriot-Watt University; and Dollar Academy.
