Event Date: 30/05/2017 13:00 - 16:00

Following up on a research project in Namibia examining the development of multilingualism in education, this workshop will explore the work of the project so far and discuss how heritage languages can be supported through 1+2 Languages planning.

The workshop will provide an opportunity for a range of stakeholders from local authorities, schools, national agencies and higher education to reflect on and explore key questions around how we support multilingual learners through 1+2.

The project is a partnership between University of Bristol, Cardiff University, the University of Namibia (UNAM), the University of St Andrews (Scotland) and Warwick University. A large part of the educational side of the project has involved Castlebrae High School in Edinburgh where the team has been developing the Scottish research aspects.

Part of the session will share research findings so far including survey responses from teachers, parents and pupils in Scotland and Namibia and will look in more depth at some of the work undertaken to date in Castlebrae High School. A full agenda will follow ahead of the meeting.
