A Celebration of Multilingualism (includes the ‘Pop-Up Museum of Languages) is a free event taking place in the Barbican, London on 14 March. This would certainly be of interest to school age visitors, teachers, and parents interested in learning more about the benefits of bilingualism. Dr Thomas Bak from the University of Edinburgh is one of the strand leads and will be presenting on the day.
The event also launches a new book. How Languages Changed My Life is a collection of stories exploring the importance of languages in shaping the lives of individuals and communities around the world. It brings together writers and musicians, politicians and activists, teachers, students, scientists, comedians, and sportspeople whose experiences are both unique and exemplary. It embraces more than forty different languages and offers a kaleidoscope of individual views that collectively make the case for linguistic diversity being as essential to our survival as biodiversity.
