Event Date: 01/10/2020 09:30 - 12:00

To mark the conclusion of phase two of Generation Global, the Erasmus+ project with our partners in Denmark and Norway, SCILT is hosting an online event on the morning of Thursday 1 October. This will promote the relevance and value of languages and intercultural skills to a wide range of academic and professional fields.

The event will allow participants to engage with careers advisers, secondary school leaders, policy makers and university lecturers from a broad range of academic disciplines. Each will share first-hand experiences of the benefits of linguistic and intercultural skills to students and graduates. There will be keynote and plenary speeches from prominent figures in Scottish education, who will highlight the importance and benefits of an international outlook, while attendees will have the opportunity to take part in break-out discussions focussing on the importance of languages to specific academic disciplines. In addition, participants will have the opportunity to view the launch of a toolkit designed to help school and course leaders to incorporate languages into curricula, and to assist young people to identify career pathways which will allow them to exploit knowledge of additional languages and other cultures.

The event will provide participants with opportunities to network and seek expert advice from our associate partners from local government, Education Scotland, Skills Development Scotland and from a number of Scottish universities.

Attendance at the event is free of charge. See the attached programme and visit the website to register on Eventbrite by 12pm on Tuesday 29 September.
