Event Date: 31/03/2021 20:00 - 20:30

Why would an English-speaking student want to study languages at university? Is it worth it? Will it lead to a good job? What’s involved?

Studying any subject at degree level is an investment in the future that involves significant cost. Now more than ever, students and their parents need to weigh up the potential benefits of university courses. That’s where Why Study Languages? comes in. This book, aimed at students, parents and teachers, explains in practical terms the range and scope of a languages course at university level and where it can lead in terms of careers or further study. The book sets out to enthuse the reader about studying languages and answer the crucial questions that a college prospectus does not. In this webinar, author Gabrielle Hogan-Brun and Joe Dale discuss the question posed by the book's title.

A competition is also being run - with four copies of the book as prizes - for the best answers to the question posed by the book's title. Submissions of no more than 300 words should be entered by 29 March with winners announced during the webinar.
