The use of video and other media-based tools has long been a stalwart in any language teacher’s arsenal of teaching approaches. Films, television extracts, archives and other artifacts provide the necessary means to bring languages to life and can have a significant impact when it comes to providing authentic learning opportunities. In this seminar we aim to explore the latest methods and approaches involving media to support language teaching at different levels of language learning from beginners through to advanced.

We will share experiences and resources to help language teachers make better and more effecive use of media as a tool to support their teaching. We will also explore some of the latest affordances of media in this setting coming about due to advances in media-based tools and services. This online seminar will include demonstrations, small group meetings and a general discussion on the topic and will generate a recap document, listing all resources discussed and shared for all participants.
