Professional Learning webinar

A Global Citizenship approach to Modern Languages enables young people to gain insights into other ways of thinking and other views of the world. With a focus on diversity and equality, the many and varied French and Spanish speaking cultures in Africa and South America can provide a rich learning context.

This professional learning webinar will be delivered by Sheena Bell and Suzanne Ritchie of SCILT, both secondary languages teachers with a strong commitment to Global Citizenship Education, and Charlotte Dwyer of Scotdec.

This will be an interactive online webinar on Teams where you will have the chance to:

  • Consider what Global Citizenship means to you as a languages teacher
  • Explore global themes such as Fairtrade, migration and children’s rights within the BGE curriculum
  • Find out about methodologies, approaches and resources which support a Global Citizenship approach to languages
  • Reflect on ways to begin to decolonise the modern languages curriculum
