Language and Sustainability Workshop

Venue: Glasgow
Visit website

Event Date: 05/05/2023 10:00 - 16:30

Anyone with an interest in language is invited to participate in a workshop on Language and Sustainability, to be held at University of Strathclyde on 5 May. The event is free, and lunch will be provided. It will involve five 45-minute group activities organized by specialists from a cross-section of disciplines, with ample coffee/tea breaks for networking. Rather than seeking to present an authoritative standpoint on the topic, the workshop will encourage participants to find their own ways of connecting language and sustainability from diverse perspectives. Workshop leaders have been invited to conduct each session on any topic and in any way they wish, provided it addresses the connection between language and sustainability in some form – so expect the unexpected! The session will conclude with a brainstorming activity about how to take the theme of Language and Sustainability forwards in future events.

The workshop is funded by Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (Linguistics Catalyst+) and is also a UK Young Academy initiative.
