Event Date: 28/10/2023 09:30 - 13:45

The Scottish Association for Language teaching is delighted to let you know that sign up for this year’s SALT conference is now open! The event will take place on Saturday 28 October at the University of Strathclyde, in partnership with Scotland's National Centre for Languages (SCILT). Participants will have the option of attending this conference in person or online. The event will last from 10am until 1.45pm.

Our chosen theme for 2023 is Learners Without Borders: Empowering and Inspiring Scotland's Language Learners. The conference aims to highlight the excellent practice taking places across different sectors in motivating our young people to develop a passion for learning a language and offering them opportunities to develop their language skills and interest both within and beyond the classroom.

We had an outstanding response to our call for proposals earlier this year and we are delighted to share our exciting programme with you. There are 24 different workshops on offer, with some sessions being offered both in person and online.

The conference offers a range of workshops from teachers, education officers and language consultants from all over the UK. There is a mixture of workshops for primary and secondary teachers of languages. We are also delighted to have our national partners, the Modern Languages team at Education Scotland and our colleagues from SCILT, represented at the conference.

If you choose to attend in person, you will have the opportunity to choose from 16 different workshops. There are 4 sessions throughout the morning with 4 workshops on offer each time. The cost for attending in person is £30. The price is inclusive of tea/coffee and a pastry on arrival.

If you choose to join us online, you can choose from 8 different workshops. For each of the 4 sessions, there will be a choice of 2 workshops. The cost for attending online is £15.

All attendees will have access to all of the presentations after the event.

We hope to see you at the #SALT23 conference!
