The Scottish Association for Language Teaching (SALT) warmly welcomes you to our annual conference 2024 which will this year take place on Saturday 2 November 2024. The event will last from 9.30am until 1.45pm. We are hosting this event at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, in partnership with Scotland’s National Centre for Languages (SCILT).
Our chosen theme for 2024 is Putting languages back on the map: Celebrating approaches to help languages thrive in Scottish schools. At a time when languages are facing challenges in many settings, this conference will celebrate the schools and teachers who are fighting for languages and working hard to keep them on the national agenda.
At this year’s conference, you will have the opportunity to hear from colleagues from all sectors who:
- are delivering engaging language learning experiences in their classroom
- are motivating learners through creative approaches to the curriculum
- are creating opportunities for language and cultural learning beyond the classroom
We had an outstanding response to our call for proposals earlier this year and we are delighted to share our exciting programme with you. There are 20 different workshops on offer, with a mixture of 50 and 25 minute sessions. This will allow you to join four different sessions across the morning.
You can see our fantastic programme here: SALT 2024 Programme
The conference offers a range of workshops from teachers, education officers and language consultants from all over Scotland and beyond. There is a mixture of workshops for primary and secondary teachers of languages. We are also delighted to have our national partners, the Modern Languages team at Education Scotland and our colleagues from SCILT, represented at the conference.
We hope you can join us for what is sure to be a fantastic day of professional learning and networking!
